Sonamarg – The Meadow of Gold

Sonamarg, which translates to "Meadow of Gold," is the celebrated combination of lush pastureland, snow-draped summits and glaciers water. The town is a sanctuary for trekkers and its trails lead up to breathtaking mountains and glaciers such as Thajiwas Glacier where you will find peace like never before in your life. Days according to need: Adventurers can also take advantage of river rafting on the Sind River or pony rides across the meadow. The clamor for luxury rooms every day of the year: As a strategic point on the way to Zoji La Pass, Sonamarg sits between freezing desert and cool mountains. From spring to summer, this valley is alive with wildflowers; the scenery offers views that are perfect for photography. However, come winter and the landscape changes. The chance of snow attracts enthusiasts to skiing and snowboarding. With its key role in the Amarnath Yatra route, Sonamarg is also a destination for pilgrims during the height of summer. Despite all these possibilities available here at Sonamarg which will change year-round according to our wishes, we can still get away for an indefinite period.

Pahalgam – Serenity in the Lidder

Pahalgam being situated at a distance of 95 K.M from Srinagar is landmarks for a nature lovers as well as for the adventurer. Located at the interface of Lidder River and Sheshnag Lake stream, it provides a plethora of interests including fishing, white-water rafting through rapids, horse riding on Baisaran’s grassland. Just a few kilometers away from Manali, there are two nature treks and camping sites, namely Aru and Betaab Valley. Pahalgam destinations are also spared with beautiful and clean environment and cool atmospheric conditions which makes the area perfect for tourism in spa and yoga centers. Located at the base of the pilgrimage route, the town has heavy visitation during the summer with spiritual tourists. During winter, it is a paradise of snow for tourists and potential for trekking, skiing and other snow activities are seen in this region with beautiful scenic backdrop that could be perfect for photographers and filmmakers. As far as I’m concerned, I’d love a bit of healthy adventure from time to time, and this, in a nutshell, is exactly where Pahalgam gets it right, in delivering a fair proportionate of both cardinal holiday vices – adventure and serenity.

Gulmarg – Kashmir’s Winter Wonderland

Often simply called as Gulmarg, translated “Meadow of Flowers” attracts tourists throughout the year, be it of the sightseeing kind or the daredevil type. Dal Lake – Kashmir’s Jewel

Situated in Srinagar, Dal lake is usually described as the “Tower of Kashmir” owing to its beautiful waters and its natural backdrop by the famous Zabarwan Hills. One of the interesting things one can do here is accommodation in a houseboat where you will definitely enjoy a sight of a sunrise over the lake from within the traditional wooden house. Floating markets that are displayed about Shikara boats selling flowers, vegetables and handmade articles are also popular on the Dal Lake. Besides, in spring the blossoming of the famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden close to the city is a sight to behold. Doodhpathri – The Valley of Milk

Doodhpathri is also called “Valley of Milk” because the water streams which flowed here are very fast when they pass through the areas containing smooth stones, the colour of the water resembles that of milk. This panoramic valley situated mere 42 km from Srinagar has snow clad mountains, lush meadows and pine forests for any nature lover wishing to get away. Jamia Masjid – The Heart of Srinagar

Jamia Masjid, is the most famous mosque of Srinagar, was constructed by Sultan Sikandar in year 1402 in the Srinagar old city. The Indo-Saracenic architecture with 378 wooden pillars and a big central courtyard fully characterizes Kashmir. The mosque is relatively serene from the outside markets that are busy, it has become a centre of both religious worshippers and architecture lovers. It is a popular place of worship for large congregations within the local community, especially on Fridays. The area around Nowhatta also gives one a taste of old world Srinagar with markets selling spices, carpets and local handicrafts. Ghanta Ghar – The Heart of Lal Chowk

Tulip Garden – Asia’s Largest Tulip Display

Indira Gandhi Memorial tulip garden in Srinagar set along the skyline of Zabarwan Hills blooms millions of tulips in springtime. This garden houses more than 62 species of tulip and gives a bird’s eye view of Dal Lake. The garden is open for a few weeks in a year but thousands of visitors from all over the world throng here making it one of the popular places to visit in Kashmir. Badamwari – The Almond Blossom Garden

This wine cellar is situated at the foothills of the Hari Parbat and is relatively unknown but worth a visit to Srinagar. Known for the almond trees which bear flowers in the early season of spring, the garden has lovely site of pink and white flowers covering the trees. Guests can only tour around the area through the curvy paths; they can also have their snacks, spread a mat and relax and have views of Srinagar as one can see glimpses of highlands of Srinagar from there. Badam Wari apart from the garden also contains beautiful blossoms, very well maintained lawns, fountains and flower beds all around making the area very calm and composed. And it is perfect location for families, lovers of nature and tourist who would like to take pictures with amazing views of Kashmir.
